okies.finally found where i stopped.this commentary is in real time cuz im drinking alcohol and i cant stop to think so i'm just verbalising all my thoughts.hahahahahahahahaaha.erm.no im not laughing.except for the laughing part.im practically immune to laughing when i drink.unless i get provoked.so far there's only one person who can provoke me until i laugh myself onto the floor.hahahaha.
day 6 - 5 feb 09
- this was the first official day for the extenders.hahahaha.erm we didnt really wake up that early if im not wrong.hahah.this was the day where we were supposed to have a special tour of the national museum of seoul (some kinda museum la.im sorry im not good at remembering names of museums if they arent really easy like the louvre.hahaha)
- okays so we met up in the morning and set off to the museum for our tour.well it was a lil bit on the cold side that morning so we were quite bundled up.as usual we walked to the subway station and took the subway to some station which i cant remember.and then we left the station and started walking to the museum.as we walked through what was somewhat like the main 'entrance' someone remarked bout how the hell our english-speaking guide was supposed to identify us.hahaha.this was when i had my eureka moment.woooohooo.im quite sure my eureka moments are more marvelous than tralala sally.hahaha.sooooo.genius me started shouting 'eleven people group! singapore! eleven people from singapore!' somehow jj found it funny.and she started laughing.but that wasnt gonna keep me from aiding our potential guide from locating us.wheeee.so eventually after a few bouts of shouting, a guy and a girl came forward to us.OUR GUIDES.wahahahha.i think it was my idea that worked.hahahahahahahahaa.or maybe i looked absolutely ridiculous shouting in the public that they decided this was DEFINITELY the singaporean group they were supposed to meet.hahahaha.
- sooo anyways they did a brief intro.hahaha.i didnt really catch the guy's name.YES I STILL DO NOT KNOW HIS NAME EVEN UNTIL NOW.i think it was like joe or something? extenders please tell me okays? hahahahaha.yeah then his english was like.WAH LER MAK.damn pro for a korean lor.hahaha.no funny accents like jude.hahaha.sorry jude.but it's true.he actually stayed in singapore for like a year previously while on exchange and subsequently he worked in singapore if im not wrong.hahaha.coolness.yepyep.and it turned out that the 'special programme' prepared for us wasnt gonna be a nice walking tour in the museum.hahaha.some korean cultural sharing organisation thingy was gonna give like a presentation on korean culture to us.hahhaha.omg it was like damn academic in nature lor.we were showed into the education centre.basically it was just a lecture room with chairs and tables la.hahaha.then when we went in, jj being the ultimate mugger, took the seat right at the front and whipped out her specs and put them on.woah all behold the queen mugger.hahahah.so yeah everyone else sat down for the presentation.
- hahaha the presentation was quite interesting at the start, they explained a bit on korean culture and stuff.then came the boring part.VIDEO PRESENTATION.hahahaha.normally singaporeans will enjoy the video bit la.hahaha.actually we did at the start.hahaha the first video was on the sarira reqkqiruqiuroqwior (i dunno how to spell the second word).this was interesting.apparently ancient koreans did one hell of a miracle of a metal structure to serve as some sort of a casket for the ancient king.the details were insane.REALLY INSANE.like WOAHHHH.hahahahah.so yeah i think pretty much everyone was awake during the first part.hahaha.then the second video came.it's so boring i cant remember what it was about.but yeah hell it was boring.the girls all slept.hahaha.well they took turns nodding off la.hahaha.ben was busy sleeping throughout the thing.hahahaha.the third video seemed more like some infomercial on the hanbok.hahaha.
- so once it was done, there was still the rest of the boring powerpoint presentation to sit through.hahaha.then erm.i shall fast forward.cuz i cant rmb the boring details.then we had a tour of the museum.there was an exhibition of buddha sculptures in the shilla dynasty (i think it was the shilla dynasty).yep so we all had free tickets and walked there.then joe (if that's his name) brought us to namdaemun for lunch.hahahah.we trained there and went to a proper department store SHINSAEGAE and ate at some korean restaurant upstairs.and by eating i meant everyone else ate and i merely nibbled on some stuff.hahahah.then erm after that everyone was supposed to go to the palace.hahaha.this was when we sparked off ideological differences and the splinter group was formed.hahaha.yenling and i have been there before.and sam didnt wanna go cuz she was REALLY SURE that she'd be back in seoul and would go there when she was here the next time.hahahaha.i think kiat was in a lil bit of disbelief that there was a splinter group.hahah.he said something about how he thought that we were supposed to be travelling together.hahah.sorry kiat..yeah so the splinter group stayed behind at shinsaegae to shop around.i went to mesa,the wholesale centre opposite the road, and saw this REALLY COOL SILVER ACCESSORIES SHOP. omgomgomgomg.omgomgomgomg.THEY HAD SKULL ACCESSORIES!!! like for the first time in my life i saw a shop with LOTSA skull accessories.some cooooooolness.hahahahaha.so yeah i went wild.hahaha.then the shop owner was quite anal and didnt wanna sell me like single pieces of accessories.he said that i had to buy a minimum of 5 pieces, mix and match was allowed.hahahah.so i shopped.to.my.heart's.content.hahahaha.after which i went over to shinsaegae and i found banana republic there.cooooool.i went straight to look at their basic crewnecks.and finally found another piece of black of my size.YES BLACK.I BOUGHT SOMETHING BLACK AGAIN.hahahahaha.so yeah after which i met up with yenling n sam and we started working our way back to the train station.along the way we patronised this really nice lady who sold seaweed and tidbits.hahahah.they bought a lot of it man..then i saw this really really really delicious korean street food.TOAST.hahahaha.damn cool.something like egg omelette, ham, cheese and buttered toast.i couldnt resist the temptation to try it man..hahahaha.yenling n sam called it heart attack in a mouthful.oh well.screw the heart attack.i can go jogging after im back in singapore.woooohoooo.it was damn damn damn nice to eat.seriously.probably the best toast i ever ate.hahaha.then yeah we travelled to insadong for dinner.hahaha.
- unfortunately for those who rushed down to the palace, it was closed.hahaha.they got the closing time wrong.so they ended up cabbing to insadong for some shopping before meeting the splinter group.hahaha.okays so we met up with jude for one last time (we turned down the invitation to have dinner with him tho.hahahaa.) he was seriously damn emo.hahaha.towards the end when we were parting he seemed way way way toooooo emo.hahahaa.then yeah we went to sit at dunkin' donuts before moving off to shop some more.hahahah.okays fast forward.then we cabbed back to the co-op to put down our stuff before moving out to dongdaemun again.
- i think we really started to love dongdaemun for its round-the-clock operating hours.hahahaha.damn cool la.imagine shopping at orchard road from takashimaya to centrepoint until like 3 or 4 am.hahaha.okays on this day jj didnt follow us.hahah.she went back to concuss.so yeah we shopped like hell.and kiat was pissed.blow-his-top pissed.hahaha.apparently one of the wholesalers was damn anal to him.he wanted to buy one of the bags.and the wholesaler quoted him the price already.then when he said he wanted it.the wholesaler insisted that he had to buy a minimum of 2 pieces.hahahah.imagine kiat with his 'what the fark' expression.yep.
day 7 - 6 feb 09
- whee this was the damn jialat day.hahaha.day of the dmz tour.we all met at 6 am.hahaha.everyone seemed like they were gonna concuss.so we all cabbed down to camp kim.hahaha.the us camp la.then we waited outside the door of the USO.jj as usual was concussing standing up again.soo they eventually opened the door and we went in and blah blah blah.fast forward.sooo we got on the bus to bring us to the dmz and jsa.hahah.yepyep.the rest of the tour was pretty interesting.they brought us to freedom house.it was supposed to be a structure that was built so that the separated families between the north n south could reunite there.however, the us soldiers told us that the north refused to allow their people to cross over.hahah.then he brought us out to the steps overlooking north korea.hahaha.it was damn cool.there was a north korean soldier standing guard on his side of the border.the moment he saw a huge group of tourists step out, he whipped out his bino and started observing us.hahaha.we took out out cameras and started snapping him.hhahaa.i'm becoming tired.i shall just write about the highlights of this tour.after that we went to one of the checkpoints that overlooked north korea and had some more photo ops.hahaha.then we went for an early lunch before going to the third infiltration tunnel.this tunnel was supposed to serve as an invasion tunnel for the south to be invaded.luckily it was discovered in time and the north never got to use it for that purpose.hahaha.yep after this was the end of the tour already la.hahaha.
- so we reached back at camp kim at 2.30pm.the palace party wanted to go to the palace.so the splinter group went over to coex mall first.hahahah.we reached coex mall at about 3 plus i think.yeah.this time round sally joined us at coex.hahaha.yeah so the girls were tired and wanted to look for a place to sit down.so i went shopping on my own.omg the place is really huge.hahahha.it's like a vivo city man..but bigger.much bigger.so yeah there i was wandering around open-eyed like a bloody kid who's in disneyland for the first time.damn cool.i love shopping.im a shopaholic.i partake in retail therapy when im depressed/in a bad mood.hahhaha.but that day i was just shopping for shopping's sake.hahahaha.shopped a lot.whee.then we met up with the palace group and went for dinner.hahaha.after dinner went shopping again.and spent spent spent.then came the sudden realisation that i was running out of cash.damn.bad news.hahahaha.so luckily i ran into jj, sam n sally.hahaha so i sorta tagged along their shopping to prevent myself from spending anymore.hahahaha.it worked out reasonably fine la.except for the part when they went into etude house to shop for cosmetics.i saw that etude house had a men's range on trial.so i went to take a look and eventually bought a tub of hair wax.hahahahaha.then yeah we went back to the hotel to unload stuff again.
- and yeah since this was the last night of the extension, we decided to go shopping at dongdaemun like mad.hahahaha.yep and for once jj was awake through the whole shopping thing.hahahaha.miraculous.kiat finally bought his nice pvc bag.hahahaha.in the end the shoplady quoted 110k won and yenling bargained it down to 70k won.hahahah.that was the original price quoted to kiat during his previous visit to that shop.hahaha.he was damn happy that he finally got his bag.yepyep.it's a nice bag.hahaha.then the rest of us guys went to the next building hello apm.hahaha.there, i saw this really really nice bag.it was black n totebag-ish.hahaha.the guy quoted me 65k.as i was bargaining with the guy, kiat saw this other checkered backpack that was kinda nice too.the shop guy immediately turned his attention to kiat and said '75k won.this bag is operation.japanese operation.very nice.very good quality.75 k won'. kiat was trying damn desperately to bargain.hahaha.eventually the guy offered to sell at 30k.like less than half the price lor.sheesh.hahahaa.this was when my big mouth ruined me.ahaha.i held the black bag and said 40k won.the guy was like damn willing to let it go at that price.hahaha.crap.my biggest mistake ever.until now i dont know why i said 40k.i swear that in my mind i was thinking of the number 25k at that point in time.i just dont know what the hell made me say 40k.hahaha.oh well i really wanted that bag as well la.so i dont really mind paying a lil bit more for it.hahahaha.eventually we all bought what we wanted.and journeyed back to the co-op.
- we bought some supper along the way, together with a bit of snacks.hahaha.yep.and eventually everybody gathered at my room, 608, where we were supposed to be playing saboteur.hahaha.most of the people were rather experienced at playing it.except for jj who proclaimed that she didnt know how to play and kept asking joyce to play her cards for her.and i also didnt really know how to play la.but then again just anyhow whack lor.hahahaa.then we played a lil bit until jj was bored and wanted to start bitching.so everyone talked a bit.then jianhao concussed.on sally's thighs.i shall omit the fact that there was a pillow in between his head and her thighs.hahahah.so yeah ben started snapping pictures i think.hahahah.sally has this weird thing of acting shy and as if she doesnt want to partake in taking scandalous pictures.at the end of the procrastination of not snapping, she'll just sit there to be taken photos of.in scandalous situations.hahahahaha.weird gal you are, sally.hahaha.so yeah.after a while, everyone started concussing.first was jianhao, then yenling, jj, joyce n sam.hahaha.i was awake for a bit more.hahaha.then when it was about 5 plus, we decided to call it a night/morning.then they started leaving.i was damn tired by then.i concussed in a prone position.haahha.i woke up like 4 hrs later to find out that i slept in a facedown position.haahhaha.coool.
day 8 - 7 feb 09
- hmm this was our last day in korea.damn sad.hahahaha.i think we all really grew to love the place.hhaha.yep.so we checked out at 12pm.and we went to dongdaemun again.hahaha.this time round we went there more for walkwalk.hahaha.and went to see the bigbig longkang.hahahah.damn cool la the korean longkang.bigbig.with like walkways and art pieces and stages built on top of the water.it's pretty different from singapore.hahahah.okays then we shopped around a bit until 3 when we met up at the co-op again to collect our luggages to venture to the airport.hahahah.taking a cab was hard as hell.hahaha.they either refused to accept us, or didnt know the direction to the hotel we were going to.hahaha.ben and i were eventually left to the last cab.the cab driver, as usual, refused to pick us.he said.you walk.10 minute. so ben and i had to walk all the way.hahaha.
- yeah then we went to the airport to check in.then when i was going through the part with the metal detector thingy, the airport staff came to me and said he wanted to look at my handcarry bag.hahaha.i opened it and he took out my moisturizer, shampoo, conditioner and facewash from face shop.damn.i missed out that my newly-bought facewash was more than 100ml in volume.i was screwed shit man.hahahahaha.the guy suggested that i went out to check the stuff in and come back in, going through the whole queuing process again.hahaha.i was pissed off that they didnt have a service of helping passengers check in special parcels like that.so i told him to throw it all away.hahaha.he didnt seem that happy to do so but he had no choice la.cuz i insisted that he throw it away.hahahaa.then yeah we all went into the departure lounge to start our last minute shopping.hahahaha.i bought more stuff like chocolates and biscuits with korean drama tie-in boxes.hahaha.and i bought a nice box of 3 packets of microwavable korean ginseng chicken soup for my mum.hahaha.then the rest of the story everyone else will know.board plane.arrive back in singapore.emo cuz missing korea.buying alcohol at duty free.hahaha.going home.yepyep.
and viola.this concludes my account of a week in the land of kimchi from 31 jan 09 to 7 feb 09.i am so gonna miss the fun times in korea with everyone from chorale.omg.im getting emo.hahahahaha.
